Welcome to the family-run organic winery Volz & Sohn in Essingen (near Landau), Southern Palatinate. We combine traditional winemaking with modern sustainability – consistently organic, certified from vintage 2024.

Tradition and Innovation in the Southern Palatinate: Our family-run winery Volz is located in the heart of the Southern Palatinate, in Essingen – a region lovingly known as the Tuscany of Germany. For five generations, we have passionately dedicated ourselves to viticulture, combining tradition with modern expertise. The picturesque landscape of the Southern Palatinate and its special microclimate offer ideal conditions for cultivating high-quality wines.

Our vineyards are characterized by exceptional diversity. We cultivate classic grape varieties such as Riesling, Pinot Gris, Pinot Blanc, and Pinot Noir, as well as modern and international varieties like Sauvignon Blanc, Shiraz, and Merlot. We also grow PIWI grape varieties - future-oriented and tolerant varieties that combine sustainability and enjoyment. This blend of tradition and innovation is reflected in our wines, offering something for every taste.

Environmental awareness and organic farming define us. Sustainability is particularly important to us. Since 2021, we have been cultivating our vineyards according to strict organic guidelines to protect nature and its resources. With the 2024 vintage, our wines will bear the official organic certification – a milestone we are particularly proud of. Our goal is to create authentic wines that are produced in harmony with nature.

A special highlight at our winery are our Ouessant sheep. These small, undemanding animals not only take care of the natural vegetation management in the vineyards, but also enrich the biodiversity on our property. They are an important part of our sustainable concept and ensure lively vineyards.
